The Strathmore Wheatland Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual Business Excellence Awards, which will be held on Friday (Oct. 25) at 6:30 p.m. at the Civic Centre.

Cody Holdaway, the admin and communications assistant for the SWCC explained what we will see at the event.

"It's a great night to get together and recognize some of these local businesses, some of which some people might not know about. Some of these are home-based businesses or different nonprofits in the community." says Holdaway. "It's just good for us to recognize our local business community that not only is flourishing in Strathmore and Wheatland County, but a lot of these businesses are also giving back to the community."

The event will be emceed by 104.5 More Country morning show host Keesyn Glawson, and features many awards that will be given out.

"We have 13 different award categories, including small, medium, and large businesses, nonprofits of the year, and best agricultural businesses. There are some social media pioneer awards, anything under the sun, there's probably an award category for it. Currently, we're just sitting under 300 nominations," added Holdaway.

According to Holdaway, the Business Excellence Awards have been going on for many years, and before the chamber took over it was run by the Newsy Neighbour.

Tickets are $75, and you can still nominate a local business, but nominations will close in the next couple of days.
