Mia Tough, from Turtleford, Saskatchewan, continues to make waves as captain of the Western Prairie Jr. Klippers in the Saskatchewan Junior Female Hockey League (SJFHL). As one of the league's inaugural players, Mia has been with the team since the league’s launch last year, and she’s now leading her team in what’s shaping up to be a promising season.
Having played hockey for 14 years, Mia’s passion for the sport is undeniable. "I love everything about it," she says. Her dedication and experience have been key as the Klippers continue to establish themselves in the SJFHL. With two wins out of their first three games this season, the team sits at the top of the standings, and several of Mia’s teammates are already ranking among the league’s top scorers.
As captain, Mia is excited not only for her team’s success but also for the growth of the league itself. “I’m looking forward to getting to know more girls and getting familiar with this new league,” she said. With the SJFHL still in its early stages, she’s optimistic about its future and hopes to see it flourish. “I think the Klippers are going to be better than ever this year,” she added confidently.
As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Mia and the Western Prairie Jr. Klippers as they aim for continued success and to set the bar for female hockey in Saskatchewan.
