A 30-year-old woman from Portage la Prairie has a January court date after Morden police caught her driving impaired earlier this month.
According to the latest Morden Police Service report, officers out on patrol around 3 a.m. on October 6th noticed a vehicle go through a red light and, when they pulled it over, picked up the smell of liquor coming from inside.
The driver failed a roadside screening test, and police say further checks revealed she had previous impaired sanctions. She was arrested and brought to the police station where two breath sample readings came back as .12 and .10. The driver was charged with Operating while Impaired and Operate Over 80 mg%. Additionally, her license was suspended for three months and her vehicle impounded for 30 days.
Not the only incident
Morden police officers nabbed two additional impaired drivers of note during this latest reporting period.
One was suspended from driving for 90 days; their vehicle impounded for 30 days and charged a $700 fine.
The second was issued a 72-hour driving suspension, a 3-day vehicle impoundment and a $400 fine.

During this reporting period, MPS also issued:
- Two tickets for Drive an Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298
- Twelve tickets for Speeding
- One ticket for Driver Not Wearing a Seatbelt which carries a fine of $298
- One ticket for Tow an Unregistered Trailer which carries a fine of $298
- One ticket for Drive While Disqualified which carries a fine of $672 and a 30-day motor vehicle seizure
- Two By-Law tickets for Parked Contrary to Signage which carries a fine of $150
