It looks like there are a number of things to do in Okotoks this weekend.
The weather for this weekend is looking nice, with highs in the low 20s forecast for Saturday and Sunday.
Here is how things are shaping up for activities in Okotoks this warm autumn weekend:
Friday, Oct 18
Nightmare in the Campgrounds is happening in the Lions Park Campground with kids being able to attend from 4:30 to 6 p.m., and anyone 12 and older can attend between 7 and 11 p.m.
The Okotoks Basketball Association will be holding their Friday Night Basketball Academy event at Meadowridge School from 7 to 8:30 p.m. for youth in grades 6 to 12.
The Foothills Country Hospice Society is hosting their Hospiceopoly: 2024 Foothills Country Hospice Gratitude and Giving Gala, which begins at 6 p.m. at the Viking Rentals Centre.
It's also Youth Night at the Okotoks Rec Centre, where youth aged 12 to 18 have free access to the Youth Centre, The ORC Gymnasium, and the pools from 6 to 10 p.m.
Saturday, Oct 19
The Greater Okotoks Football Association is hosting their first-ever Tackle Cancer Okotoks fundraiser from 6 to 8 p.m. at Foothills Composite High School field. The all-ages event will include appearances from two Calgary Stampeders who will be signing autographs and answering questions from 6-7. There'll also be a few stations with different football activities to try out, including a crash mat, accuracy throwing, and punting. Entry tickets are $10 and include a hotdog and a bowl of chili, with a $5 admission for the stations. Funds raised will go toward the Alberta Cancer Society.
Nightmare in the Campgrounds continues at the Lions Park Campground.
The Okotoks United Church's Jacket Racket is happening between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and people can go to the church and pick up any winter clothing they need. This is also the last day to donate clothing to the campaign.
The Okotoks Public Library is hosting Dungeons and Dragons from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., and an Astronomy of the Winter Sky event from 1 to 2 p.m. and 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
The Sheep River Parkrun begins at 9 a.m. It's a free 5k community event where people can walk, jog, run, or volunteer in the Sheep River Park.
Sunday, Oct 20
The Okotoks Oilers will take on the Vernon Vipers at home at the Viking Rentals Centre, with puck drop happening at 4:20 p.m.
The Okotoks BMX Club will host their Pumpkin Roll Event at 1 p.m. at the BMX Track.
