The Strathmore Spartans cross country team made it into provincials.
The team finished second in their zone and will be heading to Grand Prairie this weekend for the competition.
"It's been a really great season. We've had a lot of kids come out," said head coach Ian Regnier. "There are no tryouts. If you want to come out and run, you come out and run."
According to Regnier, 17 runners will be packed into a school bus and sent seven hours north for the tournament.
"We've got some really fast runners, especially in our junior boys, intermediate boys, and intermediate girls' category."
There are seven zones in Alberta, and provincials are hosted in a different zone each year.
Although the different groups compete separately, their scores will all be put together to determine the winner.
"We're just hoping for a good result from everybody, and I think there's going to be some strong individual performances from certain runners," added Regnier. "Hopefully we can make the town proud representing the high school and the town as well."
According to teacher Jerry Flaws, this is one of the highest number of students competing for Strathmore High School in a long time.
