The Ste. Anne Aces, Macdonald Swarm, Mitchell Mustangs, Niverville Clippers and Springfield Xtreme were winners at the first Hanover Tache Junior Hockey League Showcase held Sunday in Niverville. Zach Perrin scored twice as the Aces defeated the Landmark Blues 8-4; Coltyn Plaitin scored the go-ahead goal with 11 seconds left in regulation to lift the Swarm past the East St. Paul Gators 5-4; Mark Plett and Lucas Jolicoeur scored two goals each as the Mustangs downed the Grunthal Red Wings 6-1; Cole Gratton had a goal and two assists as the Clippers beat the Red River Mudbugs 7-1 and Dylan Kizlik made 32 saves as the Xtreme blanked the defending champion Steinbach Huskies 2-0.


Josh Borgfjord scored the tying goal 6:43 into the third period and Lucas Laramee potted the go-ahead goal with 9:16 remaining as the Eastman Selects defeated the Winnipeg Thrashers 4-3 at the Seven Oaks Community Centre. Kellan Sichewski and Noah Stott also scored for the Selects. Eastman netminder Wyatt Minsky made 28 saves. The Selects have won three in a row and face the Winnipeg Wild Wednesday at Hockey for All Centre.


The Winnipeg Jets are still perfect. Eric Comrie made 39 saves in his first start of the season as Winnipeg defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-3 at Canada Life Centre. Adam Lowry, Mason Appleton, Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele, Vladislav Namestnikov and Nino Niederreiter into an empty net did the goal scoring for the Jets (5-0-0) who are the only undefeated team in the National Hockey League. 


Aaron Cockerill fired rounds of 71-69-71-71 and finished tied for 43rd place at the DP World Tour’s 2024 Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters in Spain. The Stony Mountain native is in 46th spot in the Race to Dubai rankings. Julien Guerrier won the tournament as he beat Jorge Campillo in a nine-hole play-off.

The Selects have five wins, two losses and an overtime loss this season

The Eastman Selects have won three in a row. Head coach Bruce Sirrell will join Clayton Dreger on the Selects Report which airs Mondays at 5:15 p.m. on AM 1250 Radio.
