The Portage Terriers have added another fresh face as the team continues winning after an early season struggle.
The Terriers acquired Forward William McKay (2006) on October 18 from the La Ronge Ice Wolves in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL). The Dogs will send a player development fee their way as compensation.
McKay was just under point-per-game pace last season when he played with the U18 AAA Cariboo Cougars in the British Columbia Elite Hockey League, tallying 27 points in 31 games. He played two games for the Ice Wolves before being traded to Portage.
McKay joined a Terrier squad that seems to have just put the pieces together, as they're currently enjoying a three-game win streak, the first extended streak of the season. The Dogs have taken down the Niverville Nighthawks, Steinbach Pistons, and Virden Oil Capitals on their current run, the last of which was McKay's first game in a Terrier sweater.
The Terriers will hope that lightning strikes twice as they travel to Virden once again on Friday, October 25. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m.
