The Steinbach Pistons (7-2-1) fell from nine to 12. The defending Turnbull Cup champion Winkler Flyers (7-3), who were unranked last week, are number 13. The Central Canada Hockey League's Rockland Nationals (12-0) remain the number one ranked team in the country.
The Winnipeg Jets, who are a franchise record 5-0-0 to start the season, begin a three-game road trip tonight when they face the St. Louis Blues. It's one of 16 games on the NHL's Frozen Frenzy schedule as all 32 teams are in action tonight.
The Winnipeg Goldeyes will open the 2025 American Association season on Thursday, May 8th on the road against the Cleburne Railroaders. The Fish will play their home-opener Tuesday, May 20th against the Milwaukee Milkmen. For a fourth straight season, the American Association playoff format includes eight teams. The top four clubs (by winning percentage) in each division qualify for the postseason. A best-of-three Division Series will be followed by the Division Championship Series – now a best-of-five – within each division to determine the participants in the best-of-five Miles Wolff Cup Final. The 2025 American Association playoffs are scheduled to begin Wednesday, September 3rd.

Morris/St. Jean won the Elton Sabres varsity girls volleyball tournament. The Mavericks beat the host Sabres 25-21, 25-22 in the final. The Morden Thunder defeated Teulon 25-9, 25-22 in the final of the Rosenort Redhawks junior varsity girls volleyball tournament. The Neelin Spartans swept the Garden Valley Zodiacs 25-21, 25-18 in the final of the Northlands Parkway Nighthawks Invitational varsity boys volleyball tournament. Elm Creek beat host William Morton 25-16, 25-16 in the final of the Warriors varsity boys volleyball tournament. Host Roseau Valley defeated Ross L. Gray 24-26, 25-21, 15-6 in the final of the Raiders varsity girls volleyball tournament. Host Miller swept Garden Valley 25-14, 25-19 in the final of the Aces All In junior varsity girls volleyball tournament. Elm Creek beat MacGregor 25-20, 25-15 in the final of the Carman Cougars varsity girls volleyball classic.
