Several tickets were handed out to a Winkler youth after police responded to a report of two dirt bikes driving beside the railroad tracks between Park Street and 15th.

According to the Winkler Police Services latest activities report, the incident occurred October 2nd. At the time, when police responded, the officers activated their vehicle's emergency equipment to indicate the riders should stop.

One rider stopped, but the other sped away, eventually returning. A third was located, and he and the male who stayed on scene received verbal warnings.

The young male who fled was arrested for Flight from Police, but ultimately released without criminal charges. He was issued tickets, though, for Operating an off-road vehicle under 14 years of age, Failing to wear a helmet and Operating an off-road vehicle carelessly. 

The total of those fines is nearly one thousand dollars.
