A Winkler male received a warning about impersonating a peace officer after an incident last week.

While travelling northbound on Highway 32 October 13th, a male reported to Winkler Police a vehicle approached from behind with flashing lights in the windshield. He pulled over and the vehicle also pulled over behind him, and then swerved back onto the road, spraying stones onto his vehicle. He was able to get a licence plate number, which was registered to a 17-year-old male known to police.

Winkler officers found the male exiting his vehicle at his home, with the lightbar still attached to the vehicle. The lightbar was seized, and the youth received tickets for Driving Carelessly and Improper equipment: specifically not having a lamp that flashes, oscillates, or lights intermittently.

He was also verbally warned about dangerous driving and impersonating a peace officer, which are criminal offences.
