Central Butte is constructing a new fire hall, and they’re looking to raise a further $290,000 to make it happen.

One of their fundraising efforts is a ‘Dueling Pianos Gala’ happening on Nov. 9 in the gymnasium at Central Butte School.

“We’re doing a decent job of getting on our way, but we’re going to need this fundraiser to be a success to hopefully get to that total to help finish off the project,” said Myron Fowler, fire chief at the Central Butte Fire Hall.

Cocktails for the formal event get underway starting at 4 p.m., with supper served at 5:30 p.m., and an auction at 6:30 p.m.

The piano dueling featuring the ‘Aussie Rules’ piano players runs from 7:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.

Myron Fowler, fire chief of Central Butte, shared how the duel will work. “They’ll take requests from the crowd, and they’ll go back and forth playing some of the favourite songs of the groups and taking turns singing some of the best sing-along songs.”

Tickets are available until Nov. 1 as supplies last and are $100 per person, with options for single tickets, and tables of six or eight. You can email centralbuttefire@gmail.com to get your tickets or call Eldon at 306-796-7896.

Fowler said that construction has started on the hall, with the hope of being functional by spring 2025. “It’s just getting ready to start to be tinned, and doors and windows. It’s starting to take shape and look like a fire hall.”
