River Street Promotions has revealed the details for their annual 'A Night in Nashville’ evening at the Mae Wilson Theatre — This year’s concert is December 14th, with Joel Stewart once again returning as host, and the artist line-up sees the return of Jeff Cohen and Phil Barton, with Nice Horse and Damhnait Doyle joining them on stage.
“It’s exciting, we got Phil Barton and Jeff Cohen coming back. They were here, I think, three years ago, and joining them are our Homestand friends, Nice Horse, so Katie (Rox) and Brandi (Sidoryk),” explained Jared Mathieson. Mathieson is one of the co-founders of River Street Promotions, and the main organizer behind the Nashville Night events.
“And,” Mathieson added, “an old friend of Moose Jaw, Damhnait Doyle, has got some new music coming out, so she’s going to make the trek, too, to do the whole ‘songwriter’s round’ with the four of them.”
The Nashville Nights are smaller and less formal events than River Street Promotions’ (RSP) big annual Homestand concerts at Ross Wells Ballpark. The funds raised still go to support youth mental wellness in southern Saskatchewan, but the audience is treated to stories of how the songs were written and what they mean, personal anecdotes from each of the veteran musicians on stage, and a more acoustic atmosphere.
Host Joel Stewart is known for his knowledge of the music industry (he’s a producer, concert organizer, music video director, and much more) and his enthusiasm and humour as an emcee, and Mathieson said audiences can expect something new, as well.
“We’re in for some good laughs, and we’re already working on a few surprises for the show that people haven’t seen before at a Night in Nashville.
Tickets go on sale on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at www.MooseJawCulture.ca and in-person at the Mae Wilson Box Office at the Moose Jaw Centre for Arts & Culture. Last year’s A Nashville Christmas sold out, so don’t wait to get yours.
Returning title sponsors for A Night in Nashville on Dec. 14 are the Moose Jaw Co-op and the Co-op Ethanol Complex.
“We got involved in this a few years back and just got to see a little of what River Street Promotions is doing for the community of Moose Jaw,” said Geoff Anderson, CEO of Moose Jaw Co-op.
“Bringing mental health awareness to our students, raising funding so that we can help support our kids first and foremost. What this group of great individuals in this community are doing is outstanding.”
“These are super impactful performances, there’s lots of great discussions and eyes opened and minds expanded during these events,” said Michaela Turner, community engagement manager with the Moose Jaw Co-op.
“Moose Jaw Co-op is really proud to be part of it with River Street. They’re great promoters in our city, bringing great artists and concerts to our town, but really the behind-the-scenes work is what is most meaningful and impactful to the students.”
