With Halloween just over a week away, there are already plenty of events happening in Strathmore and the surrounding area in the weekend leading up to the end of October.

1. Fright Night (Oct. 25 & 26) - Strathmore Ag Grounds

Strathmore's annual Halloween celebration begins on Friday night at the Strathmore Ag Grounds.

The event features a kid's boo bash party, a Halloween dance, and an adult cabaret-style event.

"We do have a DJ coming, so they're going to play all your favorite Halloween hits as well as probably any other requests that you have," said Kim Bodeux, events manager with the Strathmore Ag Society.

Tickets for the boo bash are sold out, but cabaret tickets can still be purchased on the society's website.

2. Train of Terror (Oct. 25) - Mossleigh, AB

Canada's portable haunted house makes a stop in Mossleigh on Friday.

The tour begins at the Aspen Crossing train station, and the event features three unique mazes, a ride on a moving train, and a final maze that's called "the scariest haunting you might ever come across" by the event organizers.

The event is 18+, with tickets available on the Aspen Crossing website.

3. Dr. Giggles Food Bank Drive (Oct. 24) - Chestermere Rec Centre

Dr. Giggles House of Pain is an annual haunted house in Chestermere, with a special event taking place on Thursday.

"Tickets are discounted to $15, and you need to bring a minimum of $15 cash or food donation per person for the Chestermere Food Bank," wrote organizers.

The event is designed for children 13 years and older, with tickets available on the Hauntpay website.

There are also other tours taking place on the 25, 26, 30, and 31. Following Halloween, there will be an Adults Night on November 1 and 2.

4. Sollows Family Haunted House (Oct. 26) - Strathmore 216 Cambridge Crescent

Strathmore's popular haunted house, run by the Sollows family, opens up to the public on Saturday.

The tour is made in their garage and features a variety of animatronics, props, and live actors. The house was put together by the family and their friends.

This year the group is accepting donations for the Wheatland County Food Bank and the True North Society. However, donations are not required.

The house will remain open from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. every day until Halloween.

5. Haunted Board Game Day (Oct. 26) - Strathmore Municipal Library

Strathmore's library is hosting a spooky board game day from 10:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Residents are encouraged to play a game from their extensive collection or to bring one of their own. Players will also need to bring drinks, snacks, and lunch.

All ages are welcome, but children under the age of 11 must have parental supervision.

The event is free to attend.
