Coming off their first win, the Ste. Anne Aces believes there are more great things to come not just this year, but in the future.
Rodney Janz, Head Coach of the Jr. Aces says it's been a lot of fun and a lot of hard work getting to this point. "It's been amazing", Janz says with a smile. "We have a really good group of local kids around here that needed a place to play, so they're all very excited. We're honoured to have them hear and to build this program going forward."
Captain of the Aces Kash Pachal says getting that first win at the Hanover Tache Junior Hockey League showcase, meant a lot to the group. "The boys were buzzing and we managed to come out strong, then finish it off."
As the HTJHL continues to grow, Pachal says it's something local players can enjoy. "It's huge to have a local team around where we live. It's great to get together with friends and play the game we love. Getting together with new guys, too, it's been really nice."
Janz believes that the Aces have a strong community base and there is more room to grow. "It's an important thing, this team. It gives young players something to look forward to and dream about staying local and playing for a team they've grown up watching."
As the captain, Pachal says it's a thrill to see the next generation of Aces cheering the current team on. "It's so great when we walk out and see the kids and all the fans, it's something special."
The Aces play Friday night in the St. Jean Arena as they battle the Red River Mudbugs.
