Halloween is fast approaching, and Chestermere RCMP is asking residents to protect themselves while out trick or treating.

Tips include:

  • Check children's candy for any signs of unwrapped items before allowing kids to eat them.
  • Make sure costumes are bright and free of long trailing fabric to prevent tripping hazards.
  • Have kids wear face paint instead of a mask as it's easier for them to see.
  • Only visit well-lit homes and avoid houses that are dark and don't have any decorations.
  • Reminds kids to look both ways before crossing the street and use sidewalks.
  • Supervise young kids while out and consider trick or treating with friends.
