The RM of Oakview will be looking at their 5-year Strat Plan in the next few months with steps already taken to get that ball rolling.

Chief Administrative Officer, Mark Humphries, says they're bringing a facilitator into the circle in December to collaborate on their new strategic plan.

"We're eagerly going into strategic planning sessions much like all rural RM's, money is tight and we're always trying to keep the taxes down but keep the RM moving forward," he says. "So, this Strat Plan should help us greatly with those decisions going forward."

This is just one of the projects they're working on.

"We've got a few meat and gravy type projects on the go," shares Humphries. "We're just turning a nuisance site into a waste transfer station, which will be the second one this RM has done. And again, it's a step forward in reducing waste and increasing recycling and looking forward to helping the environment any way we can."

This second project of transforming a waste site into a transfer station is at Rapid City, the first one having taken place a few years back at Oak River.

"A lot of RM's are coming to visit that example that this RM created some years ago and it's basically blossomed into doing a second one," he adds. "So, that's a great feel-good project for us."
