At Kyle Composite School, the golf scene is buzzing with talent, led by champion golfer Chloe Wills and her dedicated coach, KCS teacher Keisha Padayachee. Together, they form one of the most dynamic partnerships in West Central Saskatchewan sports.
Coach Padayachee oversees both junior and senior golf teams at KCS, which feature talented young golfers like Caden Dawe, Nixon Smith, and Jace Wills. With Chloe and Jace leading the way. Chloe has clinched the West Central District title for two consecutive years, and this season, her brother Jace tied for third. Chloe’s success continued as she won a gold medal with the West Central Senior Girls team and took home a silver individually at the provincial level.
Reflecting on her coaching philosophy, Ms. Padayachee shared, “I coach because I enjoy building relationships with students outside of the classroom. Watching them grow and challenge themselves, whether in academics or sports, is incredibly rewarding. I’m here to cheer them on as they push towards their goals in all areas of life.”
When it comes to coaching Chloe, Padayachee describes herself as more of a “cheerleader” than a coach, emphasizing Chloe’s dedication outside of school. “Chloe has put in a lot of hard work with amazing coaches helping her reach her goals. I feel honored that she allows me to follow her journey, cheering her on. I’m excited to see where her dedication takes her in the future.”
Chloe, who plays various school sports, is proud to represent Kyle Composite School. “Coming from a small town makes school sports even more meaningful. There’s so much community support, and it’s great knowing so many people are rooting for me,” she said.
Looking ahead, Chloe dreams of earning a scholarship to play college golf in the United States. “I hope to keep improving my skills and grow both as a golfer and a person while furthering my academics,” she shared. She also reflects on valuable advice from her coaches, focusing on “getting 1% better each day” and “letting skills—not emotions—guide the game.”
Chloe Wills and Ms. Padayachee exemplify the power of a strong coach-athlete relationship, inspiring others in the West Central sports community. With the support of her family, coach, and community, Chloe is paving a promising path forward, one swing at a time.
