The Great Twine Round-Up event is hoping to clean up farms and award a few special prizes at the same time.

The project will dish out $12,000 in prizes for 4-H clubs and agriculture charities.

According to a news release from Clearnfarms, the company recycled 673,000 kg of grain bags and 95,400 kg of twine last year through the pilot program.

The initiative is an Alberta-wide contest with four cash prizes of $3,000 for the winners.

Contest rules include:

  • Grab plastic baler twine collection bags for free at local collection sites in Wheatland County.
  • Each bag has to be marked with the 4-H club, district name, and the date along with the full name or farm name if people are taking part by themselves.
  • Drop off the bags at collection sites between November 1 and May 31, 2025, and take a photo in the area.
  • Submit a picture through the contest webpage here.

All of the twine from the project is recycled.
