A special hats off goes out to a pair of long-time volunteers and pioneers for inclusion in Humboldt and in the province with the recognition to Ted and Loretta Shugmann at Thursday night's inclusive dance hosted by Humboldt and District Community Services. The honour was bestowed at the event in the St. Augustine Parish Hall on the occasion of their retirement from the organization and Inclusion Sask.
Dana Zemul, the Board Chir of HDCA and Inclusion Humboldt, shared the Schugmanns’ history of dedication.
“Their long-standing service has profoundly impacted the lives of countless individuals and families. Through their tireless efforts, compassion, and unwavering support, they’ve helped create a more inclusive and empowering environment for people with disabilities. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for their many, many years of service and dedication, and we are proud to award them with an Honorary Lifetime Membership.”
The Schugmanns have decided to retire, leaving a long legacy to new Board members who have recently joined.
HDCS Director Juanine Korte thanked Ted and Loretta for their foresight and dedication. Their contributions led to the amazing evolution of perceptions of people with disabilities and the adoption of the concept of inclusion as the bedrock of Humboldt living, a spirit that has been embraced across the province.
