The annual Operation Christmas Child shoebox campaign has started up once again.

"Individuals, families, churches, businesses, sports teams, and community groups are now packing shoeboxes with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items, plus personal notes and photos, to be delivered to children in need around the world," says a new release from Samaritan's Purse.

Strathmore residents can drop off a shoebox at the Strathmore Alliance Church during the week of Nov. 18-24.

In 2023, Canadians helped pack more than 435,000 shoeboxes for kids in West Africa, Central America, Ukraine, and the Philippines.

According to staff with Samaritan's Purse, it'll cost $12 to pack a shoebox which will help cover shipping and other program needs.

"Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has collected and distributed more than 220 million shoebox gifts in more than 130 countries," wrote the organization.
