For the second time this season, the Okotoks Oilers and the Cranbrook Bucks played a home-and-home series and split the back-to-back games over the weekend.
When the BCHL Interior Division rivals met in September, it was the home teams coming away with the win. In this weekend's contests, it was the opposite, with the visiting teams going home victorious.
The Green and Gold took the first win on Friday night (Oct. 25) at Western Financial Place (former home of the Kootenay Ice of the WHL) in front of 1,777 fans. Oilers netminder Olivier Ciarlo made 43 saves on 45 shots in the 3-2 win. Spencer Rheaume got two assists on the night, including the primary assist on Hunter Sawka's game-winning goal.
Kade Duell grabbed his first goal of the season to open the scoring, with Brett Wilson getting the Oilers second goal in the second period. Brayden Duy and Ryder de Nys also picked up points in the game with assists.
Saturday saw the Viking Rentals Centre play host to the second of back-to-back games, and the Bucks shutout the Oilers 3-0 in Okotoks. It wasn't due to a lack of effort on the Green and Gold's end; Cranbrook's goalie, Jaden Cholette, made 31 saves, and the Bucks were blocking a ton of shots. Ciarlo, for the Oilers, would make 33 saves.
Blake Cotton, Sammy Hynes, and Jacob Fletcher were the goal scorers on Saturday for the Bucks.
The Green and Gold only have one game this upcoming weekend, with the Sherwood Park Crusaders visiting Viking Rentals Centre on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 7:00 p.m.
