The Westman Wildcats are riding a four-game win streak. Ivy Perkin, Lucy Waldner and Jaedyn Hoemsen did the goal scoring and Indigo Stone made 31 saves as Westman defeated the defending champion Winnipeg Ice 3-1 Sunday at Hockey for All Centre. The Wildcats (6-2) are tied with the Eastman Selects for first place in the Manitoba Female U18 AAA Hockey League.


Team Manitoba lost 8-1 to Alberta in the gold medal game at the 2024 WHL Cup in Red Deer. Knox Burton of Winnipeg scored our province's lone goal. Team Manitoba went 0-3 in the round robin losing 4-3 to British Columbia, 5-2 to Alberta and 5-0 to Saskatchewan. Tyden Lafournaise of Winnipeg had a goal and two assists and Tate Barnaby of Winnipeg made 46 saves as Manitoba beat BC 4-2 in the semifinals. Goaltender Urijah Moosetail, defenseman Easten Turko and forward Hudson Champagne of Brandon were on Team Manitoba's roster. 


The Vincent Massey Vikings, Hamiota/Rivers/Elton/Strathclair Huskies and Dauphin Clippers were winners in the Westman High School Hockey League. Lucas Newman had a hat trick and Landon McGregor made 11 saves in recording the shutout as the defending champion Vikings blanked Boissevain/Deloraine/Waskada/Pierson 12-0. Broncos netminder Tristan Vanmackelbergh faced 77 shots. Chael Rozdeba had two goals and an assist, the Huskies defeated Glenboro/Carberry/Baldur 5-3. Tucker Forbes scored twice for the Wildcats. Ronin Mouck scored three times as the Clippers downed Neepawa 7-5. Ian Foster had a goal and three assists for the Tigers. 


The Winnipeg Jets put their season opening eight-game win streak on the line tonight against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Canada Life Centre. The Jets wrapped up their three-game road trip on Saturday with a 5-3 victory over the Calgary Flames.


Brad Lambert scored the go-ahead goal on the power play 30 seconds into the third period and Dominic Divincentiis made 30 saves as Manitoba defeated the Rockford IceHogs 3-1 at Canada Life Centre. C.J. Suess and Dylan Anhorn also scored for the Moose. 


Team Brad Gushue was 2-0 and Team Rachel Homan were perfect on day one of the 2024 Pan Continental Curling Championships in Lacombe, Alberta. Gushue defeated Team Jaebeom Lee of South Korea 10-3 and Team Ken Hsu of Chinese Taipei 17-1. Homan beat Team Cory Thiesse of the United States 9-2. 


Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier were again golden at Skate Canada International in Halifax. The Canadian ice dancers won gold at the Grand Prix event for the fifth straight year.
