Moose Jaw will soon see safety updates at pedestrian crossings after receiving funding from the Provincial Safety Fund Grant Program.

The funds, granted by SGI via photo speed enforcement tickets, allocate up to $100,000 per location for traffic safety initiatives in the province.

By spring 2025, the City of Moose Jaw says residents can expected to see Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) installed at intersections including:

  • 1st Ave NE & Manitoba St E
  • 4th Ave NW & Thatcher Dr
  • Grace Street & 11th Ave NW
  • Grace Street & 13th Ave NW

RRFBs serve to enhance pedestrian safety by flashing to indicate a pedestrian’s intention to cross at the intersection.

With funding from the West Park developer, there will also be a painted pedestrian crosswalk for those going between Sunningdale and West Park at 9th Ave NW and West Park Boulevard. Motorists in the area may have noticed the change to a 50 km/h speed limit.
