The Strathmore Wheatland Chamber of Commerce held the 2024 Business Excellence Awards on Friday (Oct. 25).
It was a full house at the Civic Centre as hundreds of local businesses were nominated in 13 different categories.
"The businesses take a great sense of pride in winning these awards, and I think that is key in the community," said Cody Holdaway, secretary with the chamber. "I really believe it helps them better each other every day."
The event also featured a dinner of prime rib, mashed potatoes, and broccoli salad, courtesy of Baldwin BBQ.
The winners of the 2024 Business Excellence Awards were:
- Home Business of the Year - The Piano Studio of Carolyn Steves.
- Young Entrepreneur of the Year - Hayley's Space Pantry.
- Ag Business of the Year - More Than Just Feed.
- Nonprofit of the Year - Strathmore Municipal Library.
- Business Customer Service - The Ranch Dental Centre.
- Wheatland Business of the Year - Early Bird Air Ltd.
- Social Media Pioneer of the Year - Agra Risk Wheatland Kings.
- Individual Customer Service - Southern Stars Custom Woodwork Paul Wyman.
- New Business of the Year - Mountain Peak Advanced Foot Care.
- Downtown Business of the Year - Willow Tree Laster & Esthetics.
- Large Business of the Year - Canadian Tire.
- Medium Business of the Year - Remedy's Rx Pharmacy.
- Small Business of the Year - Lil Hoots Children's Boutique.
Holdaway accepted the award for Social Media Pioneer on behalf of the Agra Risk Wheatland Kings, where he also serves as general manager.
"It's not just me doing the social media at the games. There was a whole team behind me, and they were ecstatic."
Following the award ceremony, there was a live auction for a piece of art drawn by a member of the Wheatland Society of the Arts, with all proceeds going towards the Strathmore Municipal Library.
