John Tavares scored three times in the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-4 victory over Winnipeg.
William Nylander, Matthew Knies and Morgan Rielly also scored for the Leafs who jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Kyle Connor sparked the Jets comeback with back-to-back second period power play goals.
Tavares' second of night with 2:07 left in the middle frame extended Toronto's lead to 5-3.
Mark Scheifele scored his sixth of the season at 7:36 of the third period and Gabriel Valardi drew Winnipeg within a goal when his deflection beat Leafs netminder Anthony Stolarz with 3:47 left in regulation.
Tavares completed his hat trick as scored into an empty net with 25 seconds remaining.
The Maple Leafs have won six straight over the Jets.
Connor had a four-point night with two goals and two assists.
Josh Morrissey chipped in with three helpers.
Connor Hellebuyck made 30 saves in net for the Jets who had won a franchise record eight straight games to start the 2024-25 NHL season.
Winnipeg will play road games against the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday and the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday before returning home to face the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday.
