The Agra Risk Wheatland Kings Junior B hockey team has had quite a strong start to the season.
At the start of the month, the Kings began the year with an 8-1 victory against the Red Deer Vipers before suffering a three-game losing streak that led into the middle of the month.
Cody Holdaway, general manager of the team, said that the club has come back from a few losses and is now on a four-game winning streak.
"We've had a couple of strong weekends, back-to-back. This now puts the team at 8-3 in the first 11, which is the best in franchise history."
Last weekend the Kings faced off against the Cannex Cochrane Generals and the Medicine Hat Cubs. The team won both games 4-3 and 4-2 respectively.
"The Kings climbed a little bit in the standings this weekend," added Holdaway. "The boys are just going to keep working. We've got another weekend ahead of us."
As for the upcoming series, the Kings will be in Airdrie to take on the Techmation Thunder on Friday (Nov. 1), before hosting the Ponoka Stampeders on Saturday.
"We're just hoping to keep the streak alive and keep doing our regular practices."
Other than their record-breaking start to the season, the Kings were also awarded with the Social Media Pioneer Award at the 2024 Business Excellence Awards last week.
