The Canadian Paralympic Committee announced that $100,000 will be distributed among ten sport organizations across Canada to support Para sport programming through the 2024-25 Paralympic Sport Development Fund.
These organizations, located in six provinces, will receive grants ranging from $5,000 to $15,000, helping to drive specific projects aimed at developing and expanding Para sports in local communities. Initiatives funded will enhance education, increase knowledge-sharing, foster athlete development, and broaden coach training within these organizations. While most grantees focus on a single sport, two organizations received funding for multi-sport projects.
"Congratulations to each recipient of the Paralympic Sport Development Fund," said Karen O'Neill, CEO of the Canadian Paralympic Committee. "As we aim to elevate Paralympic sport in Canada, providing more opportunities for athletes with disabilities to thrive, the efforts of these organizations play a crucial role. Their projects will significantly contribute to an inclusive and thriving Paralympic sport environment."
Funded by the Paralympic Foundation of Canada, this grant program has now allocated over $1.3 million over the past eight years, underscoring the Canadian Paralympic Committee’s dedication to strengthening the Paralympic sport system across the country.
