The following is Ezizor's responses to the questions that we posed to all candidates:
Q: Why are you running for council?
A: I’m running for City Council to ensure Moose Jaw remains a vibrant, inclusive community where families and businesses can thrive. I am passionate about addressing what I consider to be a 3-point agenda: improving infrastructure for sustainable growth, fostering entrepreneurship to strengthen the local economy, and enhancing public safety through community-driven initiatives. I aim to bridge the gap between government and residents with clear tangible, measurable outcomes and visible improvements within feasible, realistic timelines.
Q: Do you have experience in public service/community boards/politics? Do you think experience matters one way or another?
A: As a Board Director in the Saskatchewan Soccer Association, Director of SPSA, Pastoral/board roles, I’ve been actively engaged in public service, and community collaboration. I have also been involved in nonprofit mission to over 15 nations. My experience obviously has equipped me to serve in the City Council with transparency, accountability and servant leader’s mindset. Experience provides valuable insight, but I also believe fresh perspectives are crucial in breaking old patterns and inspiring new vision.
Q: What topic/policy issue/incident was the tipping point for you?
A: Seeing critical infrastructure issues not addressed properly, a lack of vision for local businesses alongside growing public safety concerns, prompted me to run for council. The combination of inadequate attention to these problems and the impact they have on residents’ quality of life made me realize the urgency of providing effective leadership. My goal is to ensure that Moose Jaw receives the attention and resources it needs to build lasting, sustainable growth for the future.
Q: What criticisms do you have, if any, for the politics you've seen over the last two or three years?
A: I’ve observed a tendency towards reactive rather than proactive governance, where important issues like infrastructure upgrades, engaging local businesses for the local economy and enhancing public safety are not addressed in decisive and intentional approaches. Additionally, a lack of transparent, accountable decision-making has left many residents feeling unheard. Politics should involve forward-thinking, “out of the box” leadership, with regular practical engagement between government and citizens. This is what is urgently needed here in Moose Jaw.
Q: What is your plan to compromise/cooperate with fellow council members to accomplish policy goals?
A: Compromise is rooted in listening, respect, and finding common ground. I intend to work closely with fellow council members by emphasizing shared values and focusing on what’s best for Moose Jaw. My approach will be to build bridges between different viewpoints, foster constructive dialogue, and prioritize collective success over individual interests. By promoting open communication and mutual respect, I am confident we can achieve practical solutions that benefit every citizen of this beautiful city.
Q: What else do you want voters to know about you?
A: I am a dedicated leader with a deep love for Moose Jaw. As a pastor/board leader, I’ve always placed service and community engagement at the forefront of my work. I believe in the power of collaboration, empathy, and hard work. My campaign is built on transparency, accountability, and servant-leader mindset to see our city thrive. Voters can trust that I will approach every challenge with compassion and a clear, practical plan for progress.
Q: In the interests of transparency, are you coordinating, or do you share an association with any other candidates, in any way whatsoever?
A: I am running my campaign independently, with no formal or informal coordination with any other candidates. My candidacy is driven solely by my commitment to serving the people of Moose Jaw, ensuring their voices are heard, and working tirelessly to address the challenges we face. I am focused on presenting my own ideas and strategies, free from outside influence, to ensure that I can serve the community with full transparency and accountability.
