Turning the corner into November, it's almost time for a favorite holiday treat that gives back to the community. Tim Horton's Holiday Smile cookies are back from November 18 to 24. This year the community recipient of the proceeds is Saint Mary's Villa Foundation.
“We’re thrilled that we are the recipients of the Holiday Smile Cookie campaign with Tim Hortons in Humboldt,” said Executive Director for the St. Mary’s Villa Foundation Donna Muench. “Our staff at the Villa is excited, and everybody is gearing up to help. Our emails will go out to Humboldt and the surrounding communities asking everybody to put in their orders for the campaign.”
The emails with the order forms with instructions for return are outward bound next week, Muench says, and they must be returned 48 hours before the intended pick-up time. Patrons can also pick up cookies at the Tim Horton’s outlet in Humboldt, but large quantities are best pre-ordered.
Proceeds head directly toward the St. Mary’s Villa Foundation’s capital campaign to equip and furnish a proposed new facility. While the Foundation is still awaiting official word about a go-ahead for the project, fundraising has been under way for some time in anticipation of a much-needed replacement.
In today’s dollars, the Foundations portion for furnishing and medical equipment will be approximately $5 million, and Muench estimates that by the end of the year, they will hit $1 million raised.
The Holiday Smile Cookie campaign is a great way to spread cheer and help raise money for the Villa. If you don’t receive an order form via email, connect with the Foundation at smvf@sasktel.net.
