The Saskatchewan Party’s Megan Patterson won Moose Jaw Wakamow in the 30th Saskatchewan General Election.
She beat her nearest opponent, the NDP’s Melissa Patterson, by 922 votes as of yesterday’s Second Preliminary Count.
Patterson said she was excited, relieved, and honoured to win the seat.
“I wanted to thank the constituents who opened their door to me, who shared their struggles with me, their triumphs, and their concerns,” she said.
“I wanted to thank constituents who took the time to vote through mail-in ballots, or who went out to polls to vote. I also wanted to thank those who supported me throughout the campaign, those who knocked on doors for me, brought food into the office, those who put up signs, took down signs, and those who contributed financially to the campaign.”
She added that she is committed to representing and working hard for all of her constituents.
“I also wanted to thank my opponents for their commitment and passion to the people of Moose Jaw.
Patterson grew up in Moose Jaw and has a business background, with a Commerce Degree from the University of Saskatchewan and an executive MBA from the University of Regina.
While she lived in Toronto for 13 years, she returned to the province in 2013. She is currently a business instructor at Moose Jaw’s Saskatchewan Polytechnic campus.
Patterson has been involved in disability awareness though her role as a community producer on the Access NOW series, Discoverability.
