The Estevan Minor Football (EMF) had a stellar season this year with franchise firsts and a renewed interest for female tackle football.
"I mean for support from the community, the crowds that came out this year, they were pretty pretty big from the previous years. Especially when you have two playoff home games this year, that's never...happened before either, from one team anyways," shared EMF president Pat Ford.
He noted that support from businesses and individuals has been strong this year, especially when it comes to fundraising. EMF has partnered up with Dominos Pizza Estevan to help raise funds for the club as they head into post-season.
Fans can use the code 'EMF' when they order online or in-store, which will give 50% of the price of the order back to the football club. Ford shared that the money raised will be going towards one of the biggest expenses for the club.
"So a big part of that goes back into the equipment we have to buy every year because your helmets expire every 10 years, so we have to keep rolling. We usually buy 10 to 15 helmets every year so we don't have to buy a bulk number at the end of the 10 year [cycle]. That's where it takes a hit in football, as our helmets are roughly $4-500 bucks a piece, we supply all that."
Transportation costs are another big expense for the club, Ford said. The promotion will run from today to November 9.
