Q. Why are you running for mayor/council?

A. I feel like I can have a positive impact on our city and help Moose Jaw start to realize some of the potential I have always seen. I think we have an opportunity to create something special in our city and be a destination where companies want to do business and people want to live, work and raise a family.

Q. Do you have experience in public service/community boards/politics?

A. Yes, I would say I have significant experience having served a term on Moose Jaw City Council from 2012 to 2016 and then also a current School Board Trustee with the Prairie South School Division. This is in addition to volunteering and/or being involved at the board level with many other youth sports organizations including Moose Jaw Minor Hockey, Moose Jaw Minor Baseball, Moose Jaw Minor Girls Fastball and Moose Jaw Youth Flag Football.

Q. Do you think experience matters one way or another?

A. I think it certainly helps understanding governance and how things operate and the structure in which things are done. But, at the end of the day it comes down to the work and effort you put into it and if you are committed and willing to put forth the effort to be successful, that is what matters the most. I believe if you’re willing to always learn and listen then you can come to the best decision possible at that moment.

Q. What topic/policy issue/incident was the tipping point for you?

A. I wouldn’t say there was a specific spot in time for me that created motivation to run for council. I have always believed in public service and giving back to your community by being involved. Often, we all raise concerns about an issue, I believe that if I want to create change you have to put yourself out there and be a positive impact. I just believe we can create a better Moose Jaw, and I want to be part of that and feel I can help get there.

Q. What criticisms do you have, if any, for the politics you've seen over the last two or three years?

A. I wouldn’t point to any specific item here but rather I think we need to be more citizen focused as a city, our citizens are our clients, and we need to ensure we are doing the best we can for them. Our job as a city is to create the environments with our roads, streets, parks, rinks, pools etc. where people want to live, work, and raise a family.

Q. What is your plan to compromise/cooperate with fellow council members to accomplish policy goals?

A. I think one of my skills I can bring to council, if given the opportunity, is to communicate. I feel I have strong interpersonal communication skills that can contribute to having valued discussion and spirted but respectful debates with other members of council. At the end of the day, we need to ensure we are all considering how to create a better Moose Jaw for our citizens.

Q. What else do you want voters to know about you?

A. I guess I would say that I am very committed to doing everything I can to create a better and stronger Moose Jaw. I will hard extremely hard for our citizens and would be honoured to represent them again if given the opportunity. My first term on council was the honour of my life and I would appreciate the support to do it again.

Q. In the interests of transparency, are you coordinating or do you share an association with any other candidates, in any way whatsoever?

A. No.
