If you’re a family in need of some extra help this holiday season, applications for the Salvation Army’s ‘Christmas Assistance’ program will be open Nov. 18 through Dec. 6 this year.
People can apply in-person with no appointment from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday during that period.
There are no set appointments, but there are several items that families should bring according to Major Byron Kean with the Salvation Army in Moose Jaw. “They need ID for each member of the family, proof of income, and proof of address.”
“It’s important that they have that information for us to be able to process the applications in a timely manner, and make sure everybody is served at Christmas time.”
Hundreds of local families and individuals receive help through the program every year.
Families getting help can receive gifts from toy drives that different organizations have conducted during the year, along with a gift card to purchase a meal for the holidays.
The Salvation Army’s Community Services Office is located at 175 1st Ave NE in Moose Jaw. Questions can be directed to 306-692-5899.
