Melvin Michael Schroh
February 12, 1960 – October 27, 2024

Melvin Michael Schroh was born in Macklin, SK, on February 12, 1960, and passed away peacefully on October 27, 2024, at Royal University Hospital with his family by his side. He was raised in Denzil, SK, until moving to Saskatoon, SK, with his family in 1970, where he attended St. Matthew's Elementary and Holy Cross High School. From a young age Melvin took a liking to ice skating and was a very good hockey player in his youth. In his teenage years, Melvin took up golf and he would get up at the crack of dawn and could be found at the golf course. In 1976, Melvin got a hole-in-one at the Wildwood Golf Course in Saskatoon and received an award from a professional golfer, Arnold Palmer. When Melvin's sister Gloria met her husband-to-be Albert Katsiris, Melvin went to work for him as a pizza delivery driver. When Melvin wasn't delivering pizzas, he could be found cruising around in his pride and joy, a gold Dodge Charger. Melvin eventually learned how to cook and worked at many Greek restaurants throughout the years. In 1981 the family moved to Lloydminster, where Melvin, his mother Madeline, and brothers Pius and Daniel opened a restaurant along with a nightclub called "PM's". After years of hard work in the restaurant industry, Melvin returned to Saskatoon and traded in his cooking apron for a contractor's belt doing home renovations. When Melvin's health started to decline, his most genuine friends and advocates Darcy Nedjelski and Robert ‘Bob’ McHargue cared for him for many years. It was truly an act of unconditional love and God's will that brought Darcy and Bob into Melvin's life. Darcy, Bob, and Melvin spent many hours watching the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and game days were one of the many highlights of Melvin's time at Bob and Darcy's house. They also enjoyed movie nights, but more often than not Darcy would call Gloria to say" We picked out a movie, bought the snacks, settled onto the couch, and a few moments into the movie I looked over to see Bob and Melvin both fast asleep. So, I watched yet another movie by myself!" Melvin was kind-hearted, generous, and lived to spoil his three nephews. He will be missed by many! Melvin leaves behind to mourn: his mother Madeline Schroh; his siblings: Gloria (Albert) Katsiris, Fr. Pius Schroh, and Daniel (Jean) Schroh; nieces and nephews: Constantin (Meagan) Katsiris (Arvo, Olympia), Jonathan (Kristen) Katsiris (Angelo, Maddox, Elias), and Dimitri (Rita) Katsiris; and friends: Darcy Nedjelski, and Bob McHargue. We will miss you, Melvin! He was predeceased by his father, Peter Paul Schroh. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Bruno Roman Catholic Church, Bruno, SK, on Monday, November 11, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. celebrated by Fr. Pius Schroh and concelebrated by Fr. Colin Roy and Fr.
