The Town has announced a series of substantial upgrades to the bulk water fill station in the industrial area, aiming to improve safety and functionality year-round, with a focus on mitigating winter hazards.

The enhancements include extensive landscaping to improve drainage, the installation of concrete pads, and the relocation of water-fill spigots to the front of the building. These changes are expected to reduce ice buildup, a common issue during colder months, and enhance overall usability. Additionally, heat tape has been installed on drainage lines to prevent water from pooling and freezing, helping to eliminate slip hazards for station users.

A key change to the station’s operations is that hoses will no longer be provided onsite. This decision comes after repeated issues with hoses being torn off, leading to piping damage and water flow disruptions. There were also concerns about the potential for hose contamination. As a result, all users are now required to bring their own compatible hoses (2” spigot) when accessing the station.

“We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and understanding as we work to improve the safety and efficiency of this essential facility,” said a Town representative.

These upgrades are part of the Town’s ongoing commitment to public safety and service reliability, particularly through the challenging winter months.
