An avalanche near Crowsnest Pass has prompted a timely warning from Avalanche Canada.
According to Southwest Alberta Regional Search and Rescue, three people triggered a slab avalanche in the Coleman area on Sunday (Nov. 3).
One member of the group was buried as a result, though the other two were able to dig them out.
The group called for safety using a satellite messenger device, and rescue personnel were able to locate them and take them to safety.
Southwest Alberta Regional Search and Rescue and Avalanche Canada are using the incident as a reminder for groups to always carry equipment like shovels, a probe, and avalanche transceivers, and that avalanche conditions are still a very real and present danger even if many areas of the province haven't seen significant snowfall.
