There was a lot of action when it comes to minor hockey this past weekend, with road games for a number of Weyburn teams, and a tournament at Crescent Point Place. 

U18 AA Wings fall, U18 AA Gold Wings take two of three on the road 

The U18 AA John Hulbert Construction Wings started the weekend off on home ice, playing the Regina Rangers at Crescent Point Place. The Rangers would come out firing and jumped out to an early lead. They would hold on, going on to a 7-1 win. Weyburn’s lone goal was scored by Morgan Lacoste at the end of the first period.  

The U18 AA Wings travel to Moose Jaw to play the Warriors on Saturday.

The U18 AA Apex Gold Wings were on the road, playing three games in three nights on the weekend. They started things off in Melfort, where they took on the North East Aces. The Gold Wings would score in bunches, and got a shutout performance between the pipes from Kiera Barker, as they went on to a 5-0 victory. Ella Schenher and Bostyn Runge scored twice with the fifth goal coming from Elizabeth Gill.  

After the game in Melfort, the U18 AA Gold Wings were off to Martensville where they played the Warman Wildcats. Myra Field would stop 49 of the 51 shots she faced as the Gold Wings went on to a 4-2 win. Schenher scored twice with Runge and Kaylin Wilhelm also scoring in the victory.  

The road trip finished off in Saskatoon against the Comet Legends. Saskatoon would rally from a 4-2 deficit and skated to a 6-4 victory. The goals for the Gold Wings came from Schenher, who scored twice, as well as Runge and Brooke McKinnon.  

The U18 AA Gold Wings host the Regina Rebels on Thursday at the Harry O Memorial Arena in Midale. 

U16 AA Wings: A tale of two games in Moose Jaw 

The U16 Agriterra Wings headed to Moose Jaw for a pair of games against the Warriors on the weekend. 

The first game was Saturday, and the two teams would go back and forth. They entered the third period tied 3-3, but the Warriors would pull away, skating to a 5-4 win. Ross Gill, Cayden Snell, Liam Stubel, and Ethan Rutledge would be the goal scorers for the Wings in the loss.  

The two teams met again Sunday, and this time the Wings would come away with a big win. Andrew Hemphill would light the lamp four times, with Nate Missal, Travis England, and Snell all adding in a goal as well, with the Wings skating to a 7-1 victory.  

The U16 AA Wings are back in action Saturday when they play the Bridge City Blues in Saskatoon.  

U13 AA Gold Wings split weekend games 

The U13 AA Young Fellows Gold Wings were in action on the weekend, playing a pair of games. They would start things off in Lumsden Sunday, taking on the Lynx. The Gold Wings scored early, and scored often, as they went on to a 7-2 win. Paisley McIntyre had a hat trick, with Bradie Anderson, Abigail Weger, Ayla Spagrud, and Jorja Rutledge also finding the back of the net in the win.  

Monday, the U13 AA Gold Wings were in Estevan, where they entertained the Warman Wildcats. The Wildcats would be the ones coming out on top, thanks to three goals in the second period, by a final of 4-2. Spagrud and Hunter Sands scored the goals for the Gold Wings in the loss.  

The next game for the U13 AA Gold Wings is Friday when they host the Prince Albert Foxes.  

Weyburn teams earn medals at U13 Kickoff Classic 

The U13 Kickoff Classic took place in Weyburn this weekend with games taking place in Crescent Point Place and Tom Zandee Sports Arena. Teams from across the province came to town to take part in the event.  

The Southey Marlins would go undefeated through the weekend and took home gold. The Weyburn South Country Equipment Wings finished the tournament with the silver medal, while the Weyburn Legion Wings finished with the bronze medal.
