This week's Airdrie Techmation Thunder Spotlight belongs to Daytn Kulynych.

The Thunder picked up two wins last week. On Friday, they edged out the Coaldale Copperheads 3-2, and on Saturday, they overpowered the Ponoka Stampeders with an 8-3 victory. This brings the Thunder's season record to 8-6.

Head Coach and General Manager Mark Kulynych wrote that Daytn had a great overall weekend.

"DK (Daytn Kulynych) had by far his best game of the year on Friday, and was all around the puck."

The Head Coach was most impressed with his work ethic without the puck as he had some good back checks and was solid on the penalty kill.

"Saturday he played well also having a TSN-style goal and getting a couple of helpers (assists) on top of that. DK is a big part of the team and if he can keep playing this way it will help us be successful. Daytn had a 5-point weekend which was great but his Faceoffs and work without the puck helped the team get 4 points this weekend."

On the season in 14 games played, he has three goals and three assists for six points. Daytn hopes he can keep his momentum from the previous week for the rest of the season.

"I will try to stay positive on the bench and keep the guys going around me like they do for me."

When asked, he explained the goal of the season is to do as much winning as possible.

"It's easier said than done, but we just want to win, go game by game, learn and take as much positive stuff we can from every single situation."

Growing up in Airdrie, Daytn played hockey away from home before returning to the Thunder this season.

"It's nice to be home and be back around the guys that I grew up with, I'm having a lot of fun."

The Thunder only have one game this week, and that's against the reigning league champions the Carstar Okotoks Bisons. Gametime is 8 p.m. at the Ron Ebbesen Arena.
