A driver in Amaranth is walking with a much lighter wallet after an incident at the RCMP detachment.

An RCMP officer in Amaranth heard a vehicle revving just after 2 a.m. on November 8 while inside the detachment. Upon investigation, the officer found a vehicle on the grass of the detachment property and initiated a traffic stop.

The driver, a 68-year-old man from Amaranth, was asked to provide a breath sample using a roadside screening device but failed to provide an adequate sample. Consequently, he was issued an Immediate Roadside Driving Prohibition, resulting in a 90-day licence suspension. His vehicle was towed and impounded for 30 days, and he faces an administrative penalty of $700.

Additionally, the driver received two tickets totaling $909. The RCMP continues to investigate as the vehicle caused damage to property items.
