Altona Mayor Harv Schroeder has a new Deputy Mayor in Craig Smiley.
Each year, the town's councillors have the chance to volunteer for this leadership position, with the final selection made by a council vote.
"I appreciate his readiness to take on this leadership role and I am excited to work more closely with him this year," said Schroeder.
The Deputy Mayor supports the Mayor in their role.
"Craig brings many assets," added Schroeder, pointing to his 14 years of experience serving as Chair for the Borderland School Division board of trustees and his years as Public Works Supervisor for the Municipality of Rhineland. "There's many areas that he brings a lot of assets to the table."
Smiley takes over the role from Donna Rosling-Wolters who as Deputy Mayor for the last two years.
"I want to thank Donna Rosling-Wolters," said Schroeder. "She will continue to bring her expertise and passion to our Council as she resumes her role as a councillor."
