It’s a tradition started by the Lions Club in 1960, and the Friendly City Optimist Club of Moose Jaw has been making it happen since 2015.
Greeting Card Lane is back up in Crescent Park, featuring 21 greeting cards on the Langdon Crescent side of the park between Fairford St E and Athabasca St E.
“These cards measure 8 feet by 5 feet, and are up from mid-November to mid-January, and they’re lit up 24/7 by LED spotlights,” explained Ron Rollie, co-chairman of the Greeting Card Lane Committee with the Friendly City Optimist Club of Moose Jaw.
“This project is not only a fundraiser for our club – we feel that it’s a long-time tradition in beautifying our city during the holiday season, and we invite all families to walk or drive by these cards.”
Around 12 volunteers helped to install the cards this year, with people putting in a combined 50 hours over a 2-day period in October to refurbish them.
The cards are sponsored by local organizations and businesses for $250 each annually, with funds raised focused on supporting projects aimed at local children and youths.
The first card in the series is the Friendly City Optimist Club’s card, near the corner of Fairford St E and Langdon Crescent at the park’s entrance.
