Loretta Josephine (née Ulrich) Tameling

The death of Loretta Josephine (nee Ulrich) Tameling occurred on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. She was 79 years of age. Loretta was born on August 22, 1945, to Josef and Bertha Ulrich and raised in the Spalding area. She married Bernard Tameling on September 22, 1962. They resided in Spalding, SK, where their daughters Marian and Norma were born. The family then moved to Creighton, SK, in 1966, where they made many lifelong friends. In 1971 Loretta, Bernard and their daughters moved back to the family farm near Muenster, SK. Here they added to their family with the birth of their son Gordon. Loretta worked at the Blue Bell Café in Muenster before beginning her career of 25 years at St. Peter’s Abbey as a cook and baker. In 2003 a health scare required her to retire, and she moved to Humboldt to reside with her twin sister Loraine. The women lived together for over 20 years. Loretta and Loraine were avid gardeners, canners and enjoyed going fishing with whomever would take them. Most of all, Loretta loved spending time with her family. Loretta is survived by: her daughter, Marian (Mel) Kiefer, their family: Cassandra (Codie) Endicott, children - Emily and Corbin; and Gillian (Tyler) Muench, children - Luke and Allison; her daughter Norma (Maurice †) Saretsky, their family: Shauna (Devin) Ilg, children - Rebecca and Hudson; and Jordan (Brianna) Saretsky, children - Ivy and Stevie; her son Gordon (Leanne) Tameling and their family: Jared and Kendal; her siblings: twin sister - Loraine (Jerome †) Merkosky, Trude (Ken †) Doepker, Eric (Dorothy) Ulrich, Linda (Keith) Sarauer, and Sally (George) Bihari; her sister-in-law Carole Ulrich; her mother-in-law Mary (Tameling) Korte; many other of her in-laws; nieces; and nephews. Loretta is predeceased by: her husband Bernard Tameling; her parents Josef and Bertha Ulrich; her father-in-law George Tameling; her son-in-law Maurice Saretsky; her brother Lawrence Ulrich; her nephew Wayne Sarauer; and her sister-in-law Jeanette Hinz. The Funeral Mass was held at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Cathedral, Muenster, SK, on Monday, November 25, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., celebrated by Fr. Demetrius Wasylyniuk, OSB, and concelebrated by Fr. Paul Oshin. Others taking part were: Hudson Ilg, cross bearer; Gillian Muench and Jared Tameling, scripture readers; Cassandra Endicott and Jordan Saretsky, intentions; Kendal Tameling and Rebecca Ilg, gift bearers; Donn and Joyce Kimmen, memorial table attendants; and Shauna Ilg; eulogist. Music ministry was provided by St. Peter’s Choir and Sheryl Korte was the organist. The urn bearers were Marian Kiefer, Norma Saretsky, and Gordon Tameling. Honorary pallbearers were “all who have shared in Loretta’s life”. Inurnment was at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Muenster, SK, followed by the memorial luncheon at the Muenster Community Hall.
