Students at Vanier Collegiate in Moose Jaw are working hard in preparation for their 4th Annual Vanier Community Christmas Dinner on November 30, and are now calling out for individuals, families, and businesses throughout the city to help them in their mission.
A $10 ticket or sponsorship is all it takes to help the annual event provide a meal befitting the holiday season to people in need within our community.
Kiera Zimmerman is one of the nearly 50 students charged with organizing the decorations, activities and even the meal itself, and she tells us a little bit more about the event.
“We're running a dinner for 225 people, so people can sponsor plates for families so that families can come and have a Christmas dinner for free if they can't afford it. And they can just enjoy the magic of Christmas with all the decorations, we're going to have a Santa corner and even a penny parade.” said Zimmerman.
“All the money that we do fundraise from it will go to food banks, food drives, and other things around the community that will help other families.”
Zimmerman explained that her love for the season is what motivated her to volunteer her time helping organize the event.
“I want to be a part of this because my whole life I've grown up with Christmas just being this magical time where I just feel the most joy, and I want other kids and other families to be able to experience this.” said Zimmerman.
“If you can donate even a little bit, it will help us. It's $10 a ticket per person, so you can sponsor a family. Any little donation helps, even just for decorating or for food. We hope to see you there!”
Tickets are available now and can be purchased in person at Vanier Collegiate, via telephone at (306) 693-6744, or even through fax at (306) 693-6830.
