Young Airdronian Hayley Isabel has recently released a new single called Colour Changing, along with a music video.
Being her third single, her fans have been able to listen to it for a few weeks. She explained what the song is about and how she relates to it.
"I wrote this song with Sonia Deleo, which was super fun. It is about leaving your old self behind and finding your new self, which can be scary sometimes and sad."
Born in 2011, Isabel explained she is at that part of her life, finding out who she is and what she is all about. When talking about the music video, she explained her little cousin Avery got to be the star.
"Avery my little cousin would be a great fit to play the younger me in the video. So that was a really fun experience being able to make a video with her, she just got to play on the playground like a normal kid."
Isabel thanked Josh Turner for producing the video and making everything feel natural for her and her cousin.
As of right now, her new song has over 5300 views.
"I didn't expect that at all. A lot of these videos that I'm making are kind of just like milestones of where I'm at right now to look back on. So it's cool that it's being seen by other people and appreciated by others because it's just a fun thing to do."
Isabel went on to talk about the busy year she has had, playing over 60 shows.
"At the Calgary Stampede, I sang the national anthem every day. I also played at the King Eddy for the first time this year, which was fun."
It has been a special year for Isabel in her career as she received several awards as well:
- 2024 Alberta Country Music Youth Horizon Award (18 and under)
- 2024 Global Country Canada 1st place in the Junior Category (13-17 years old)
- Airdrie Mayor’s Night of the Arts 2024 Emerging Artist
"It was great to meet so many artists and talk to them about music at the Canadian Country Music Awards and Alberta Country Music Awards."
With 2025 just around the corner, Isabel explained she is getting more comfortable writing music but still hopes to perform plenty of shows.
