Wicked opens this weekend in theatres and fans are so excited to sing along to all their favourite songs from the musical.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but AMC theatres in the United States are not letting fans sing.

They're even running a 30-second warning set to clips from the movie that say, quote, "No talking.  No texting.  No singing.  No wailing.  No flirting.  And absolutely no name-calling.  Enjoy the magic of movies.

We are a little more easy-going north of the border so I called Landmark Cinemas in Calgary and Hal at the Cochrane Movie House to see how they feel about fans singing along.

Hal at the Movie House says "We would never stop you from singing but be respectful. We still want fans to have a good time."

Mathew at Landmark says "We wouldn't recommend it. He also added that he heard theaters around the country will hold special screenings where audience participation is encouraged . . . but they don't start until Christmas Day."
