In an effort to educate Ontarians on the COVID-19 vaccine, the Ontario Ministry of Health started calling unvaccinated residents a couple of weeks ago.

The purpose of the call was to clear up any misinformation and allow for a safe conversation with educated healthcare professionals.

The Northwestern Health Unit has reported 88.5 of residents in the region have received at least one dose while 82.4 per cent are fully vaccinated. Over 127,000 doses of the vaccine have been administered in the region to date.

Dr. Kit Young Hoon, Medical Officer of Health for the NWHU provided an update on the statistics of the phone calls to people in the region in a media briefing on Tuesday (October 27, 2021).

“In our area, 96 per cent of the calls have been made and nearly 200 people booked an appointment as a result,” said Young Hoon.

Province-wide 87.9 per cent of Ontarians have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 84.0 per cent are fully vaccinated.

Yesterday (October 27, 2021) Ontario reported 321 new COVID-19 cases lowering the seven-day average of cases to 366. Last week, that number was 406.
