Winnipeg fire crews are busy Tuesday morning battling a fire in the city's North End.
The blaze, which broke out at around 12:45 a.m. in a vacant one-and-a-half-storey home in the 600 block of Alfred Avenue, was discovered by a Winnipeg Police Service crew driving through the area.
They immediately notified the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service. When crews arrived, heavy smoke and flames were pouring out of the building
Firefighters could not access the inside of the home due to the heavy fire conditions and they are now fighting the fire using handlines and an aerial ladder truck.
Due to structural concerns, emergency demolition is being arranged. Road closures in the area will remain in place until work is completed at the scene.
Alfred Avenue is closed between Parr Street and McGregor Street. McKenzie Street is also closed between Burrows Avenue and Aberdeen Avenue
No injuries have been reported at this time.
This is the second time a fire has ravaged through this home. This residence was also damaged in a previous fire in May 2024.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
