Three Foothills-area senior lodges recently launched a fundraising campaign.

Sandstone Lodge in Okotoks, Medicine Tree Manor in High River, and High Country Lodge in Diamond Valley have released a 2025 "Seniors Just Wanna Have Fun" calendar as part of the fundraising efforts for a new bus.

"We currently have two buses between our three lodges. One of them is in High River and the other is in Diamond Valley at the moment, and our Diamond Valley bus has seen better days," said Meghan Smith, recreation coordinator at Sandstone Lodge. "We want to get to places safely and reliably."

The buses are used for year-round outings around the Foothills and into Calgary, and with the lodges spread across three communities, their current means of transportation are spread fairly thin.

Smith estimates the cost of a new bus to be around $120,000.

This is actually the second such calendar that Westwinds Communities has released, with the first one being released in 2019.

It features residents from all three lodges, with a different theme for each month.

They're asking for a $25 donation per calendar.

Anyone interested in making a donation or buying a calendar can reach out to the recreation coordinators at any of the three lodges.

They're also planning on bringing back their "Drive-by Pie" fundraiser, and even expanding it to the High River and Diamond Valley lodges.
