Eric DeLong, president of the Oakville Community Club, recently shared updates on the community's latest initiatives, including the sale of the old Oakville Hall and the successful opening of the new Oakville Community Centre, and Oakville Early Learning Centre.
The Oakville Community Club sold its former hall after completing the construction of a new facility, which opened this summer. The sale, part of a larger fundraising effort for the new hall, was essential as the old building had outlived its usefulness. The new owner, a local resident, plans to convert the lot into residential rental units, addressing a growing housing demand in the community.
"We're really excited that the property will stay local and fulfill a community need. With the housing shortage in Oakville, this project provides additional housing close to the school and other residential areas."
Beyond the sale, DeLong highlighted several other recent changes for the Oakville Community Club. The new hall now houses a daycare, filling a significant childcare need in the community, and the space is being rented out for various events, including weddings and funerals, with positive community feedback.
"We're thrilled with the progress and the community engagement we're seeing. It's an exciting time for Oakville, and we're eager to see how the new hall continues to benefit everyone."
For those interested in booking the new hall or learning more about its offerings, DeLong encourages residents to visit the club's website or email the community club directly for information.
