The RCMP detachment responded to 27 calls over the past week, addressing various incidents ranging from traffic violations to fraud awareness and disputes.
Traffic Safety Efforts
Officers issued eight drivers “educational reminders” about road safety. Additionally, a report of a 2005 grey Saturn Ion driving erratically in town resulted in the driver receiving a fine for their actions.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered
Near Duprow, officers located an abandoned red Dodge left in the middle of the road. Further investigation revealed the vehicle had been stolen from the RM of Oakdale. It was towed from the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
Fraud Continues to Impact Residents
The detachment reminds residents to remain vigilant as fraud attempts persist. Scammers continue to use common tactics, including asking victims to purchase gift cards and share the codes, pretending to resolve fake banking issues, and convincing people to withdraw funds under false pretenses.
One unfortunate victim lost $24,000 to a Bitcoin scam—money that is unlikely to be recovered. Police urge everyone to verify any unsolicited requests for money or personal information and to report suspicious activity.
Neighbour Dispute Escalates in Perdue
A long-standing feud between neighbours in Perdue took a noisy turn, involving a revving truck engine and an offensive hand gesture. Officers stepped in to mediate, reminding both parties that disputes often involve contributions from both sides.
